DIY!!
In this video, I take you along as I do a mini-makeover of my family room and share ten ideas for increasing the coziness of any room. Using mostly things that I already have, I attempt to make big changes on a small budget (under $100). I also share some tips for staging/displaying your home decor. To stay on budget, I complete a few DIY projects such as painting two end tables, painting and gold waxing a thrifted decor piece, and applying garden lime to my lamps.

I’d say goal achieved! I thought I’d prefer the end table left as all wood, but, although I like both, I really think the black legs caused the wood top to really be noticed. With window treatments (having worked in JCPenney’s drapery department), I always started with the question “Do you want the focus as you enter the room, to be on the windows or another item? If you want the windows to draw the eye, go contrasting, but if something else is to stand out, go with curtains in the color family of the walls in light to medium tones, so the eye continues on.” I think it causes one to pause and look at windows as a possible focal point. Personally, this modern trend of just having blinds, or worse, nothing at all on windows, is such a missed opportunity to add so much character and texture to a room. Not to mention privacy! Good grief!
