This the BEST Valentine DIY video/ideas I have ever seen and that is the truth. And I was tickled pink when you made the Valentine with the Skelton key. Just last Sunday I went to the Variety Store within walking distance to my new to me little home as she (family owned) just put out all the Valentine’s Day decor and crafts. I am really sticking to a tight budget since having to move out of my mom’s house and back to paying a monthly payment plus utilities but, where I save in sne stores with coupons I treat myself at the variety store for crafts to make for my home and to make as gifts. But, there was this precious little heart with a funky metal hanger and the heart is made out of wood, painted an off white with a crackle finish. Inside the heart lower down is a cut out heart with another funky little piece of faux rusty metal holding a very tiny faux gold Skelton key. The part you hold to put into the lock is shaped like a heart on top of the heart between the hanger and the cut out wood it says, Life is a journey and only you hold the key”. I absolutely love that! Since my Mom passed away I have been on a hard journey, navigating thru life without my Best Friend as we called eachother. Back to working long hours at work for a boss that doesn’t care for others, just about making money. I came home very tired tonight, packed for my weekend trip with my Dad this weekend. After I packed I got out 2 wooden hearts (3 1/2 inch) with holes. I tied in 2 pink ribbons. I decorated one with my non bleed glitter pens and have one for my brother and I will take my pens. Sunday we will go to my mom’s grave. I have flowers ordered at a flower shop near by and I will tie the hearts to the flowers. My mom loved Valentine’s Day and always made it special for us children. I have every single Valentine saved from my mom and I am almost 60.
I have been wanting to make those little string covered valentine’s but, on my lease it states we are not allowed to save brown paper backs and cardboard but, I do save the square tissue boxes for the cardboard. I saved 7 this past year to use the sides for a Christmas craft I never did make but then the other day I saw on Pinterest the yarn hearts.
About 5 years ago after Valentine’s Day those large 12X12 cardstock books went on sale. Orig $19.99i bought one for $5.99. I literally have 6 full sheets left and a large envelope with TONS of scraps. This was a good book as it had glitter and foil hearts etc. I love your idea with stain on the top and cardstock on the bottom.
It’s 2am I am due at work by 7am. Your ideas have inspired me greatly and I cannot wait to make some of your crafts. And, this heart I bought with the nice saying is a Ganz product.
