Good tip. I also spy a belt sander. I usually belt sand my outside mitres a bit to keep them tight. Another cool tip, Using DAP as glue on the tops and bottoms of each piece of crown when you go to install. Helps hold the pieces up and you’re caulking as you go. Win-Win.

Just did some kitchen crown the other day and made a nesting jig. Took around 10 minutes and worth every second. Highly recommend.
