Writing the paint color on the outlet cover is GENIUS! Tell your dad I think he is amazing and I am absolutely doing this when we repaint this spring!

Love the caulking tip. Definitely will be using it.
Another tip- I take a picture of the the top of my paint cans where the mixer has put a label of the brand, base, sheen, and color formula. I save these into a home album on my phone. Comes in handy if you need to text your painter the color or if you are picking up paint at the store.

For clean paint lines with tape, if you don’t have the original wall color you can use matte mod podge. It will also fill in the bleed area with clear then paint your new color. Perfect line.

I actually appreciated all of it they were great tips and I will be using them. I think what I like the most about this video was the fact that you were concise, you stayed on topic, you kept moving so you went from one topic to the next it was quick and you went through step-by-step how to do it. I really appreciated it. Most other DIY videos are not like that, they are not specific and they don’t always give all the details or the products that they use. I get bored or irritated with them and have to fast forward through, but this was great. Not to mention all the links for the products used, wonderful information.
Thank you so much

I like the tape grid over the vase tip. I do the flower arrangements for my church sanctuary and one tip I use is crumpling the cellophane the flowers come in and putting it in the clear glass vases with the flowers then add water. It raises the stems up when the vase is too tall for the flowers to sit right and it will give the appearance of ice chunks in a clear vase.

Writing the paint info on the outlet cover inside is GENIUS! Not just for the purpose you mentioned, but if you get some scuffs and want to touch it up later. Way easier than trying to remember which drawer I hit the paint square in.

You know what I like about your videos? The fact that you speak quickly about your ideas without too much talking. You get to the point quickly and move on. Love listening to you. My favorite the hot water in the candles to get wax out.

Love how your tone of voice feels like you are giving these tips to a friend in front of you , so friendly and sweet! Thank you! By the way, loved the Amazon dupe screenshot research , much needed 💛

I love you! Congrats on your home purchase. It fun to see “younger folk” learning these tricks. My mom did most of these, but it’s great they are being passed on. The best one for me is the trick to find a cheaper version on Amazon with a picture of an item (mom obviously didn’t do that one). Spraying the front door mat with Flex Seal is pretty awesome too (mom didn’t do that one either).
Again… love you. You’re so fun and have a natural talent… ❤️

Use washi tape to secure paper covers to your books to prevent damaging the inside covers when you remove the tape. Also, put spent candleholders in the fridge or freezer; the old wax will just pop out.

I used to work in a pottery outlet and we used price stickers on everything. Whenever the owners decided to change prices or put on a sale, we would have to remove all the price stickers and put on new ones (so removing stickers on about a thousand items). We would spray the price sticker with windex, then use the back end of a swiffer duster (the plastic holder piece) to push the sticker and adhesive off. Windex breaks down sticker adhesive in about 10 seconds, so no need to wait 20mins to remove your sticker tags!

The book hack is a great idea you can also use colored construction paper or brown butcher paper when white isn’t a good fit. Also, a quick fix for small holes in drywall is to mix the paint in your chalk before you fill the holes because old paint tends to be lighter and the white chalking lightens just enough to match the old paint. I also used white toothpaste to fill holes in white walls for tiny nail holes.

Great tips – thank you. I do something similar to tip one for the taper candles. I use a cheap paraffin tealight to drip a bit into the candle holder and then stick the candle to it. Works quite nicely with glass and crystal candle holders because you don’t get the possible burn marks near the bottom of the candle.

I’m over 70 and I watched this thinking I would probably know most of these “hacks.” But you can teach an old dog new tricks – I can’t wait to use some of these – especially your vase hacks! You have a great style and you move things along. I love that you have an eclectic aesthetic – it makes your room and your things so interesting. Thank you for a great video.

Spraying a bead of caulking was BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST I HAVE SEEN! Really appreciable aesthetic! Worth watching, indeed.

I love this !! Another thing That you can do to minimize the mess that caulking makes is to put some masking or painting tape along the vertical surface (wall) and the horizontal surface (floor). Apply caulk and make sure that it is completely dry before removing tape. Easy to control and the caulk will only go where the tape isn’t. You can use a combination of this idea and the water sprayer idea to make it really perfect. I love the scotch tape/flower spacer idea. I saw it on City TV years ago and I have used it many times since.

Great tips 🙂
With number 18, instead of using paper towels to remove the melted wax, you can just leave it until it hardens as the wax will rise to the surface and then will set altogether so once it is completely cooled it pops out in one piece and then it still retains its scent so you can use the wax in a wax burner and get more use out of it. If it hasn’t removed all of the wax in the first go then just do it again and the glass will be completely clear of wax.

Also, If you are planning on using the melted wax in a wax burner and if there is a black coating on it from when it was burning then I just take a damp paper towel and wipe it off before pouring the boiling water into it to save the wax from looking all dirty.
It is honestly so simple, just pop the kettle on, pour in the container, leave for several hours then come back and pop it out and rise off and it is done. 😁

Another good tip that I use when I have a candle that is too small for the holder is to wrap an elastic band around the base of the candle. This usually makes the candle fit snugly and it eliminates a build up of wax inside the candle holder.

I would normally look for the list of advice within the comments of these kind of videos, but when it comes to Drew’s, I just love listening to him explaining and showing things. Thank you for always doing such an amazing job and showing us all sorts of DIYs 💜

My favorite hack is writing the room color in the back of the light switch/plug cover. I would probably also paint 1/2 of the back in case the color is discontinued they can color match. When calking instead of spraying the calk just wet your finger and it smooths out well. I also like the hack of spraying the mat with clear flex seal. Great video.

There’s an easier/safer way than using tape on the inside of the book for the covers. You basically do an origami fold and it secures the cover nicely without ruining the inside, and the origami also gives it a very nice look

Rubbing alcohol takes stickers and residue right off, no waiting, there are some glues it doesn’t work on and for those lighter fluid will work, no waiting for it either.

Loving the vase in a vase idea and the paint info inside the outlet covers! You could even take it step further, and paint a swatch of the current paint onto the back of the outlet cover in the color of the walls, and make a list of the outlets, for each room and the names of the paints.
This would be a wonderful gift to the buyers of your house or your tenants, as well.

The screw hook trick is new to me. Brilliant!

I’ve seen the paint trick before but you explain it so well! It makes perfect sense once you explain the bleeding.

The tree looks great! Much more natural looking than many retail ones.

My daughter introduced me to you and now I cant get enough! You gave me the confidence to start working on my bathroom and bedroom. I loved this video, but my favorite was the screw hooks! Stupid simple, but so ingenious! BTW we are doing our bathroom using the board and batten on the walls and I took your suggestion of the color (backwoods) and we couldnt be happier with this choice. Love all the moody rooms you do too! Keep making those videos! Love you!!
